How to Fit an Armrest Storage Organiser (Geely EX2/EX5)
Share
The Geely EX2 and EX5 both come with a deep centre console armrest box — great storage in theory, useless in practice once your charging cable, sunnies, wallet and loose change are all sliding around in one big open cavity. A custom-fit armrest storage box organiser fixes that in about the time it takes to read this article. No drilling, no adhesive, no tools.
What You're Actually Fitting
The RAVOX armrest storage box organiser is a custom-moulded tray insert, shaped to match the exact dimensions of your Geely EX2 or Geely EX5 console cavity. It drops straight into the existing armrest box and splits that one deep space into proper compartments, so smaller items stop disappearing to the bottom and rattling around every time you brake.
It's not a modification — it sits inside the factory storage box as-is. Nothing is glued, screwed, or permanently attached, which means it comes out just as easily as it goes in.
What You'll Need
Just the organiser itself. Optionally, a microfibre cloth if you want to wipe out the console first — but no tools, no adhesive, and no trimming required.
Step 1: Empty the Armrest Box
Lift the armrest lid and take everything out of the storage cavity — cables, coins, sunglasses, whatever's accumulated down there. You want a clear, empty box to work with.
Step 2: Give It a Quick Wipe
Aussie cabins collect more dust and grit than you'd think, especially if the console gets sun through the windscreen. A quick wipe-out with a cloth (or a low-suction vacuum nozzle for the corners) means the organiser sits flat and clean from day one.
Step 3: Lower the Organiser In
Because it's custom-moulded for the EX2 or EX5 cavity, the organiser only sits one way. Lower it in gently and match the edges to the walls of the console — you'll feel it settle flush against the base and sides with no gaps or rocking.
If it feels like it's sitting proud of the opening or not settling flat, lift it out and check you've got the right model version (EX2 and EX5 organisers are not interchangeable — the console cavities differ between the two).
Step 4: Close the Lid and Check Clearance
Close the armrest lid fully and check it latches the same way it did before. A correctly fitted organiser is sized to the cavity depth, so it shouldn't stop the lid from closing or sitting flush.
Step 5: Load It Up
Now put everything back — but sorted this time. Use the compartments to separate what you actually reach for (charging cable, phone cable, sunglasses) from what just needs to be out of the way (coins, parking tickets, odds and ends).
Keeping It in Place
- No adhesive is needed — the custom fit is snug enough to stay put during normal driving and braking.
- Avoid overloading one compartment with something heavy and lopsided (like a full drink bottle) — it can shift the balance under hard cornering.
- Wipe it out every few weeks. Crumbs and dust settle into the compartments the same as any storage tray.
How Long Does It Take?
Under 2 minutes. If it's taking longer or not sitting flush, double-check you've ordered the organiser for the correct model — EX2 and EX5 versions look similar but are not the same part.
Common Questions
Does one organiser fit both the EX2 and EX5?
No. Each is custom-moulded to that specific model's console cavity, so you'll need the EX2 version for an EX2 and the EX5 version for an EX5.
Will it stop the armrest lid from closing properly?
No — it's sized to sit within the existing cavity depth, so the lid closes and latches exactly as it did from the factory.
Is it removable if I change my mind?
Yes. Since nothing is glued or screwed in, you can lift it straight back out at any time and the factory storage box is unchanged underneath.
Do I need adhesive or tools to install it?
No. It's a drop-in fit — no adhesive, no screws, no trimming.
Worth the Two Minutes
It's a small fix for a genuinely annoying problem — one deep, open storage box that turns into a junk pit within a week of ownership. If you're after one for your Geely EX2 or Geely EX5, both are custom-fit, no-drill, and ready to go straight out of the box.
